Weird NJ. There is a reason such a magazine exists. New Jersey is an extremely small state with a lot of bizarre crap crammed into it. I’ve been a huge horror movie fan ever since I was a kid. Back then it was Freddy and Jason ruling the 1980s. The original Friday the 13th was filmed entirely in northwestern New Jersey. Yes, the lake that Jason Voorhees drowned in is a short drive for most New Jerseyans.

Oddly enough, I had never watched the original Friday the 13th. I saw all of the other ones with Jason and the infamous hockey mask. It was my duty to remedy this heinous crime by seeing the movie in the coolest possible way. At the theater featured in the movie…historic Blairstown Theater. Here are some of the filming locations seen throughout the movie. Unfortunately the Blairstown Diner was closed after the screening. How is that place not open on Friday the 13th?! Hungry fans were a guaranteed draw.

All of these shots were taken on my newly acquired Pentax K-1000 w/ 50mm f/2.0 lens. Same camera we used way back in high school photography class.
