ZOMBIE! Grab a Bat and Live To See Another Halloween!

Crystina Herrera you have outdone yourself. You will feast your eyes upon her gore-ious work upon scrolling down.

Everyone brought their acting chops and got down and dirty to shoot the annual That Werks Halloween Theme. I can safely say this is also one of the smelliest shoots we have ever done. God only knows what disgusting sludge was leaking in/out of the cemetery.

All of the broad daylight scenes were shot without fancy lighting. Once the sun dropped below the horizon I used my trusty Yongnuo 560 IV speedlites to set the mood.

Some of my favorite shots are the simplest. The silhouette head smash being one of them. Delightfully violent.

Vampire Hunter

“They’re only noodles, Michael.”

This year it was decided that vampires reign supreme once again. Building off the vampire shoot last year, I got together with friend/photographer John Lauritsen for a shoot at his family’s farm in Maryland. Three models brought the vampire hunter theme to life. The cold didn’t keep us from jumping around like maniacs and fogging up a 100 year-old barn filled with lighting equipment.

Models: Amber Matthews, Chris Slovak and Laureen Taylor

Vampiress Attacks! Happy Halloween, Everybody!

Andrea Hoch as a vampiressGreat photo shoot to celebrate Halloween and my love for horror movies. There have been great vampire movies and there have been vampire movies that depict the undead nightcrawlers as the most pitiful characters in the movie. Stake through the heart. Garlic. Seeing if they have a reflection. Sparkling in the daylight. If you are a believer in the last one, you may stop reading and proceed to never read anything I post here ever again.

Models: Andrea Hoch & Vincent Meli
Makeup: Karen Buttacavole
Hair: Jessica Cleaver

“Night of the Living Dead” drawing

Zombie drawing in crayonWho is a huge fan of George Romero? I am. He started the zombie movie craze that hasn’t let up for the past fourty years. I did this drawing using Crayola crayons and edited it in Adobe Photoshop Express for Motorola Droid X.

(I really have to get down to Asbury Park one year for their annual zombie walk.)
