Hello, people! It’s been a while since I posted a blog on this site. Hopefully this sets off a trend of me posting blogs more often, but no promises. We’re kicking off this potential renaissance with a few highlights from a totally fun engagement session with two people that love salmon! A lot!
There’s nothing like taking the sun by the horns and saying “with this trip around this hot, hot sun I command thee to bestow a photo shoot upon me!”
Nobody actually says this, but blogs need to have hooks and taglines. Social media! Likes! Sharing Consider yourself hooked!
I’ve known Jasmin for quite a few years and she’s been the star of several shoots I’ve done. It was a hot day at The Art Factory but this summer has been pretty relentless and work still needs to get done.
We kept the laughter a top priority and even had a surprise appearance from an “assistant” that definitely wasn’t on the schedule!
I haven’t blogged a wedding in a looooooong time. It has been the busiest year for weddings that I’ve experienced. I’ll give you one guess why!
My homebase (Art Factory Studios in Paterson, New Jersey) was the setting for Staci and Mickey’s wedding. It couldn’t have been more fun to document. Everything on the timeline was spaced out to allow for maximum creativity and total enjoyment of the day.
I am excited to share this recap blog of the shots we got that day!
Side note: Go see the new “West Side Story” in theaters. Most of the film was shot in Paterson and many scenes at Art Factory Studios itself.
Many things were different about photographing weddings this year. Mainly the lack of people at weddings and/or no wedding at all…just the couple. Luckily all of the couples I work with have been flexible in still making things happen in this alternate universe called 2020.
Jess and Mike joined us for a trip around Edison, NJ to do an extended portrait session. We found an exceptional location in Roosevelt Park (near Menlo Park Mall) and made the most of it.
Special thanks to David Alonso for second shooting this with me. He’s the nicest guy around!
I knew Alyssa and Leo would be a fantastic couple to photograph from the day we met. Their engagement session was effortless and the wedding even moreso! We got amazing captures throughout the day and below are just a few of the greatest hits.
Another successful shoot with Cleri Models at Art Factory Studios in Paterson, New Jersey. Ana has a dance background and although we wanted to focus our efforts elsewhere you can imagine that skillset came in handy. Particularly when we positioned her in a window with a 30 degree angle. She held the pose like Spider-Woman!
This shoot is from right around the time I started doing headshots in a new way. I typically stay away from flat lighting, but it works well for the modeling portfolio headshots because it shows off features without heavy shadowing and it minimizes skin irregularities. I particularly love the look with the red dress and red lipstick. Raen (hair/makeup) always does a great job of going over the wardrobe choices with me so that we’re on the same page.
McKenna did a great job, nailed all her looks and we made use of some spaces at the studio that hadn’t been used before.
